“Spending the last three years doing restoration work in the Chicagoland area has provided me with a deep sense and appreciation of the history carried on through the city’s architecture. I’m grateful to all those who see the importance in preserving Chicago’s architectural identity, so much of which is found in the details; without them I would not be able to do what I do.”

The Window Workshop was founded to be a resource for people interested in restoring original windows and architectural woodwork.

We are passionate about our work; it’s a joy to discover and preserve the historic craftsmanship that lives through Chicago’s architecture. Our aim is to demystify restoration in hopes that our clients can enjoy our work as much as we do.

- Anthony Umaña, Owner and Founder

People don’t think about windows much until they’re in need of repair. Window restoration can seem daunting; some homeowners are tempted to just replace them, others to slap on more paint and caulk and call it a day. Our aim at The Window Workshop is to make restoration easy.

Because each project is unique, communication is key to providing quality service. We make it a priority to educate our clients about our process and guide them through the restoration options available to them.

Original windows are simple in their design; this means each component is important to the whole. We set high standards and take pride in working with attention to detail and craft from start to finish. Our hope is to be able to contribute, if only in small part, to the restoration and preservation of Chicago’s architectural identity one window at a time.
