Longevity
Architectural Importance
Original features like windows and doors hold so much architectural identity. The historic character of a home is greatly diminished when the windows that were specifically made for it are replaced with generic vinyl windows. Homeowners are often unaware of the restoration options available to them.

WHy Restore Old wood windows?
Still trying to decide if restoration is the best option for you? Well we’re biased for sure, but hear us out!
Traditional wood windows can last a long time if properly maintained; many are over a century old, and even windows that have fallen into disrepair can be restored. Original windows were designed to be repaired; replacement should be a last resort.
A low-quality replacement window will be inferior to a fully restored and weather-sealed original. When properly weatherized, a traditional wood window can be as energy efficient as a replacement, especially if paired with a storm window. High-quality, modernized reproductions can be expensive, so restoration can be the more cost-effective choice.
Restoring original windows helps reduce waste. Considering the durability of old-growth wood and antique glass, it’s a shame to think about old windows ending up in landfills. Replacement means more windows need to be manufactured, a process that often includes the use of chemicals that can be harmful to the environment. Restoration is the sustainable choice.
